Lost Pen

Don’t you hate it when you lose something? You know that favourite pen you have, the one that travels with you everywhere, writes all your journal entries and letters, fits your hand perfectly and just flat out feels right? Well, I lost mine.

I’m a bit sad about it, which is a little silly really. It wasn’t an expensive pen or anything special. No sentimental gift attachment, no significant features or excitement about it. It was just a plain old Parker Reflex plastic fountain pen. A school pen, purchased some years back for next to nothing at the local Officeworks store. And yet I’m sad about losing it.

Even more annoying, only a few weeks back I’d purchased a converter for it so that I could refill it using glass bottled Noodlers’ ink rather than more environmentally unfriendly plastic cartridges.

Of course not everything was perfect with the pen. I’d used it so much that the rubber gripper was starting to wear out and the pen clip on the cap was a little wonky. Writing-wise it was still wonderful though.

Oh well, it’s time to move on. I’ve dug out my old Lamy Safari’s and given them a good clean and refill. They feel great to write with and nice and familiar in my hand.

Nothing will really compare to comfort of the Reflex’s soft rubbery grip though. I wonder if I can find one for a good price on eBay …

  1. I just read this after looking on the internet for a replacement of THIS EXACT PEN and I am so glad that someone else feels as sad as I do. Parker need to bring this back because it was my favourite pen of theirs. Lightweight, thin, plastic and comfortable, my writing won’t be the same without it. RIP.
